Business Startup Checklist

Please note this is a general guide only! For more info, visit: https://www.business.gov.au/guide/starting

01. Come up with an amazing business idea

Is your idea unique and have a point of difference to potential competitors?

02. Plan

Do some research, put together a business plan, or talk to a business mentor.

This can be overwhelming, but the best advice I received was to embrace the process because by allowing the ideas to sit in the front of your mind, you start making quick decisions you feel good about! If you’re not a numbers person (like me) find people around you that can help - you don’t have to do everything alone!

03. Apply for an ABN

You can do this for FREE here: https://register.business.gov.au/

You generally don’t have to register for GST until you have a turnover of $75,000 or more. But you should obviously talk to the professionals about what’s best for you.

04. Register your business name

Be sure to check if your potential name is available as a domain and social media handles first.
You can register your business name at the same time as applying for an ABN: https://register.business.gov.au/
$36 for 1 year or $85 for 3 year

05. Buy your domain name

There are many domain hosts you can use, one is: https://www.crazydomains.com.au/
.com.au - $20.99/year or .com - $21.99/year

06. Secure your social handles

This is FREE! Try to get your actual business name, and make sure it’s easy to remember and say. The best place to start is Instagram and Facebook.

07. Design your visual identity

You can either DIY this stage or you can work with us! Check out what’s included with our Brand Identity Creation, and if you have more questions, book a discovery call today!
