Northern Roots is a boutique salon located just moments from Balmoral Beach — a space designed to feel calm, welcoming and quietly refined.
While the service offering was of a high standard, the existing branding wasn’t reflecting the quality of the experience or helping the business stand out within its local area.
The brief was to create a brand that felt clean, confident and feminine, while still holding a sense of warmth and personality. It needed to translate seamlessly across both digital and physical touchpoints, and feel consistent from the moment a client discovered the salon through to their time spent in the space.

Northern Roots now has a brand that reflects the experience it offers — calm, refined and thoughtfully considered.
The visual identity has been applied consistently across every touchpoint, creating a cohesive and recognisable presence. From printed materials through to digital platforms, each element works together to reinforce the professionalism and care behind the salon.
The brand was also extended into the physical space through a custom hand-painted mural, bringing personality into the environment and creating a clear connection between the brand and the in-salon experience.
Externally, updated signage ensures the salon is more visible and easily recognised from the street, strengthening its presence within the Balmoral area.
The result is a brand that feels aligned, confident and memorable — supporting Northern Roots in standing out while staying true to who they are.

When Lara mentioned she could also create a mural, it was an instant yes. I wanted to show who we are and what we stand for, and bring that creativity into the space.”
