The Bikesmith & Espresso Bar
The Bikesmith & Espresso Bar approached Shiplee Studio in the early stages of building their brand, with a clear idea of the aesthetic they were drawn to — particularly a specific style of typography they hadn’t been able to source.
The challenge was to take that initial spark and develop it into a cohesive brand identity that felt authentic to their space — balancing specialty coffee culture with a strong connection to cycling. The brand needed to feel distinctive, approachable and consistent across both the physical environment and everyday touchpoints.
What We Did
Brand Identity Creation
Shopfront Signage
Menu Design
T-Shirt Design
Sticker Design
Hand-Painted Mural
The Bikesmith now has a brand that feels considered, recognisable and true to its identity.
The custom illustrated typography became a defining feature, giving the brand a unique and ownable visual language. This was carried consistently across signage, menus, merchandise and the mural, creating a strong connection between the brand and the physical space.
The result is a brand that feels embedded in the environment — one that customers can recognise, remember and connect with, both inside the café and beyond.
“As a new start-up, the input and contribution from Lara of Shiplee Studio were critical to the development of our brand. Lara’s creativity, passion, and generosity helped bring our vision for The Bikesmith to life. Since then, Lara has supported our brand as we have grown and evolved, creating graphics to represent our brand across digital and hard copy media, including shop signage, t-shirts, and bike jerseys as well as designing and painting a mural on our shop wall.”
